Year 12 students spent time at The University of Suffolk earlier this week, where 104 exhibitors including employers, apprenticeships and universities were ready to meet and talk to interested students. Hear more about their visit and what they learned in our report from Year 12’s Bee.
Lots of questions, even more possibilities, Year 12’s Bee
The universities and colleges’ admission services (UCAS) arrived at the marina side campus that is The University of Suffolk; creating a bustling hub crammed with 104 exhibitors, in 6 rooms, accompanied by lots of questions and even more possibilities.
Year 12 had the opportunity to explore this maze of universities, employers and apprenticeships. Each stand had enthusiastic representatives, ranging from employees to postgraduate students, ready to answer any queries – from course specification to the ‘vibe’ of a city or workplace.
This in-person contact helped us to understand the ethos of the institutions; stimulating conversations on the contact hours and lectures, the people, the accommodation, expenses, and perhaps, most importantly the fun and excitement of post school life.
It provided an insight into the future beyond Woodbridge School, presenting an array of paths you could take.
Despite talking to Dyson about their genius hairdryer – the phenomenon I’m sure you’ve heard of but is sure to break your bank account – envisaging the city campus of Birmingham University, jostling in queues for the universities of Durham, Lancaster and Edinburgh, it was London Metroplitan University that drew the most attention with their eye-catching, much wanted tote bag that embodied the brilliant Illustration and Animation course they offer.
Leaving with brochures in one hand and merch in the other, questions were answered, and curiosity of what’s to come was surely satisfied.
