U12 Girls Hockey Against Boundary Oak on Tour

8 Mar 24

Last Friday evening a group of Year 7 students formed their first U12 hockey team to play against a touring team from Boundary Oak School.

We had a large squad of 14 excited players, all equally keen to get to play hockey again. The team worked well together and quickly proved to have superior skill and experience. Using this well, Woodbridge dominated large parts of the game, trying to move the ball around and use whatever available space they could find. Lots of rotations probably were not ideal for continuity but the girls were very focused in their approach and didn’t let their rhythm get disrupted.

Team captain on the day, India J, scored a great opening goal, and it looked like Woodbridge were going to run away with things. But the Boundary Oak team got numbers behind the ball and managed to break down and disrupt our play. Ella doubled our lead in the second half with a composed push finish into the left corner. Clem in goal was kept busy at regular intervals and did a sterling job.

As we approached the end of the game the opposition found a passage of consistent pressure and despite best efforts from our team, Boundary Oak got on the scoreboard. Things were getting a bit tense but Woodbridge held their heads and secured the win they deserved.

Well done to Clem who was awarded Player of the Match from our team, and India J who was the opposition’s chosen Player of the Match. Well done to each of the girls who played, bringing together Year 7s from four of our Junior teams from the Michaelmas term. The team spirit, collaboration and support for each other were wonderful to see.

Already looking forward to next season!
