Medals for Woodbridge School Athletes
at Suffolk Schools Cross Country Trials
On Thursday 17 October, almost 50 Woodbridge School athletes, from both the Senior School and the Prep, travelled to RHS for the first Suffolk Schools Cross Country trial. Their performances were nothing short of exceptional, and full results of the top 50 in each category can be seen here. (results are on the cross country tab).
With up to 200 athletes in some of the races, over 30 Woodbridge School athletes qualified for the final trial in January, which will be hosted in School, by finishing in the top 50 in their race. Although largely an individual event, we saw some spectacular team results, with two wins and two second places, with 35 schools in our races.
Congratulations to our athletes on winning medals for individual top three places in five of the eight races, for eight of the 24 medals overall, and for winning individual Gold medals in five of the eight races – an absolutely fantastic achievement which we believe may well be a School best result!
Gold Medal winners:
Year 7’s Chloe (Minors Year 6 & 7)
Year 7’s Archie (Minors Year 6 & 7)
Year 8’s India J (Juniors Year 8 & 9)
Year 9’s Digby (Juniors Year 8 & 9)
Year 10’s Romilly (Inters Year 10 & 11)

Year 8’s Dex (Juniors Year 8 & 9)
Bronze Medal winner:

With up to 200 athletes in each race, we saw the Junior Girls follow up the achievement of the Minors last year, with 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th across the line, and another three in the top 20; and the Junior Boys race saw four of our runners in the top six, and eight in the top 20.
Ahead of the final trial in January, Woodbridge School still has over 20 athletes in contention for County selection, and over 10 athletes fighting for the right to compete at English Schools in Sussex in March.
Congratulations to every athlete and a huge thank you to staff and parents for their support on the day.
Cross country athletes have a busy few weeks ahead, with the National Cross Country Relays in Mansfield over half term and the all-important Regional Round of the English Schools Cross Country Cup taking place in the first week back!
