On Sunday 12 May, 22 Woodbridge athletes headed to Bury St Edmunds for the Suffolk Field and Track Championships, the first athletics competition of the year.
Year 7’s Imogen, Evie, Alexandra, India J, India B, Ella and Tom, Year 8’s Annabel, Lola, Eirann, Marina, Alice and Digby, Year 9’s Felicity, Sophie and Romilly, and Year 10’s Eloise, Margot, Lily, Oscar, Huw and Jasper all took part. It was a successful day, and an excellent opportunity to gather experience, with many of them achieving personal bests!
Congratulations to all of them for taking part and competing, on what turned out to be the hottest day of the year so far!
Margot took Gold for the second year running in the high jump, with a new personal best of 1.49m. It was also Gold for Lily in hurdles, Eirann javelin, Tom 800m and javelin, India J 1500m, Romilly 1500m, Jasper javelin, with Annabel in shot!
Silver for Eloise long jump and triple jump, and also for Lily in high jump, Annabel discus, Alexandra 800m, Lola shot, Ella 1500m and Digby 1500m.
Bronze for India B in 800m, as well as Huw discus, Evie 1500m, and Oscar javelin.
A huge well done to all of our athletes, and a big thank you to their parents for all their support. It was a great day for spectating in the sunshine or shade, whatever your preference.
