Our Junior and Senior School ski teams competed in the annual Eastern Region Ski Association Schools (ERSA) Race last Sunday, 28 April, at Norwich Snowsports Centre, courses set by Snowsports GB coaches.
Both Junior and Senior teams had two runs through difficult slalom courses set by Snowsports GB coaches, designed to test their technique and thorough course inspection.
The Junior team of Year 5’s Leo, Chang and Ralph who competed in the morning, struggled in the terrible weather conditions but all improved enormously in their second run, coming down with more confidence and building greater experience for a very promising future of Woodbridge School ski racers.
In the afternoon, the Senior team racers hit the slope and were lucky (or unlucky enough) to get bibs 1-3 meaning they opened proceedings! Year 7’s Frankie, Bella and Izzy all learned a great deal, securing faultless runs in their second attempts and leaving Norwich with smiles on their faces.
The senior boys team of Year 9’s Maxim, Year 11’s Hans and Year 12’s Bruce were up against some very stiff competition but performed admirably, with a standout performance from Hans completing the course in 17.04 and 17.02 seconds.
A brilliant culmination of months of hard work at Mount Ipswich on dark Friday evenings from a super committed bunch. Well done!
