Score: Lost 21-27
Our first team started well against Framlingham, putting them under pressure straight away. A loose kick was capitalised on by Framlingham and Woodbridge paid the price and went down to a converted try, only to reply with a penalty struck well by Robert Smith. Further pressure from Framlingham resulted in a penalty on front of the posts for as 3-10 lead, but the riposte was quick with another Smith penalty after great play by Ed Robson. The scoreboard continued to tick over and after great pressure from the Woodbridge forwards in tandem with George Win and Ben Morgan, Charlie Butt kicked ahead and won the race to touch down. Smith converted making it 11-10 to Woodbridge, only for Framlingham to strike back in turn with a try out wide. With the score at 11-15 Woodbridge rallied and following a long range kick by Smith to the corner, Woodbridge gained a scrum and worked well for Ed Robson to score under the posts. Smith converted giving Woodbridge an 18-15 lead at half time. Woodbridge continued to apply pressure but a stolen ball was pushed back deep into the Woodbridge 22. Framlingham eventually battered the Woodbridge defence and scored from a rolling maul. No sooner was it registered registered, than Smith popped over another penalty to regain the lead at 21-20. With the game in the balance and both teams attacking and defending well, Framlingham finally struck leaving Woodbridge now 6 points adrift and chasing the converted try in the final few minutes. It all came down to the last play of the game: our boys gained possession and were making great progress only for the ball to be stolen and with that the game lost.
