The final week of Rugby at the end of last year saw some emphatic games from our U12, U13 and U14 teams.
Woodbridge U12 and U13 teams vs Ipswich School
Our U12 and U13 teams took on Ipswich School with three fiercely contested games at the end of term last year. Giving their all, they took Ipswich to the final whistle. It was great to see all of our players in each team take what they had been working on throughout the season, and put it all into good practice! Their tackling, rucking and ball carrying proved challenging for the Ipswich defence, and there were some fantastic tries scored across all three pitches where games were being played. We were delighted to see both U12 teams come away with victories and the U13s narrowly losing by one try.
Woodbridge U14 vs St Jo’s
On the penultimate day of term, our U14 team took on St Jo’s, unfortunately losing to a narrow scoreline. The U14 players have progressed hugely, working hard to introduce some structure into their game. With some depth in attack, Woodbridge made it hard for the St Jo’s defence, finding gaps and making the opposition scramble back at times, but St Jo’s pushed Woodbridge to the final whistle.
With some strong ball carriers Woodbridge had to front up and showed some great double tackles driving the opposition back. After multiple phase plays St Jo’s were able to find a gap in the Woodbridge defence. Despite losing this match, overall it’s been an outstanding season for the U14 players.
Great play and development from our U12, U13 and U14 teams, well done everyone who took part, and showed great sportsmanship too.
