Last week we held two Primary Enrichment events in School; Lego and Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Workshops. Inviting children from Year 4 and 6 at St Mary’s C of E Primary School, both enjoyed afternoons packed with activities.
Year 4 children were encouraged and challenged to let their imaginations run free by building a motorised car out of Lego, an event supported by the Brickologists Young Engineers team. Once built, the cars were enhanced by either adding trailers to carry a battery pack, or to create larger off-road versions with huge wheels, before being put to the test in a race against one another.
Year 6 children learned all about the recycling centre at Foxhall Road, particularly how our waste from our bins at home is collected and burnt at SUEZ, the energy-from-waste facility at Great Blakenham. One of the most interesting facts the children heard is that Suffolk’s waste can generate enough electricity to power around 40,000 homes by 20 megawatts!
Woodbridge School’s Enrichment Programme is provided free of charge to schools in our community, allowing students to develop new skills and gain hands-on experience across various curriculum subjects which in turn strengthens and broadens their knowledge.
