OW Ben Travasso who left School this year, was nominated for and won a Suffolk Police, in partnership with Suffolk County Council HOPE Award 2021/2022 for determination. The awards received more than 100 nominations for students across Suffolk for awards promoting diversity, acts of respect and kindness, alongside demonstrations of teamwork and determination. Representatives from Suffolk County Council and Suffolk Police visited School to present Ben with his award in October.
Celebrating positive action taken by our young community, Ben received his nominations and award in particular recognition of his efforts during lockdown. Alongside helping at his local church, showing willingness to help through creative ventures such as assisting in the School theatre, which involved working closely with his father a music therapist, Ben also played drums during Zoom calls for families and children who were really struggling at home during the covid pandemic.
Recognised for determination to help others in participation in the RAF cadets, he completed over 100 hours of volunteering as a Sergeant with St John’s Ambulance, where he was also nominated and selected to attend St John’s Ambulance Young Achievers’ reception in London in the presence of the Princess Royal, Princess Anne.
Ben’s strength of character has given him the determination and resilience to continually strive to help others, as well as achieving well at School. Congratulations to Ben and all the other winners. You can read more about the awards at www.suffolk.police.uk/hope-awards.
