Former student Justin Tan had just achieved another remarkable feat, finishing tied for fourth (fifth on tie break) in the World Under 18 championships in Porto Carras, Greece. His last round win over second seed Grandmaster Kiril Aleeksenko from Russia (who finished with the Silver medal despite the defeat) secured him a podium placing in a gruelling tournament that lasted nearly two weeks. Justin finished with 8 points from 11 games.
