INTERMEDIATE MATHS CHALLENGE 2016

25 Feb 16

Many congratulations to all our mathematicians on another very impressive crop of results from this year’s IMC (for Years 9 to 11). In particular, well done to best in school Emily Barker for her score of 108 (it is really unusual to ‘break the ton’) which entitles her to compete in the Maclaurin round for the top few candidates nationally. Close behind, also in Year 11, were William Emery, Abigail Crane, Jason Li, Chloe Neall and Joseph Brierly (gold certificates and qualification for the international Pink Kangaroo round), Michael Dixon, Henry Bellhouse, Year 10 Freeman Lok (best in year) (all golds), and Year 9 Brendan Bennett whose brilliant 87 earned him gold, best in year and qualification for the national Cayley round for top young performers. Earning silvers were: Year 11: Samuel Newman, Sze Hoi Yiu, William Clarke, Vanessa Wong, Gabby Zins, Kitty Norika Chang and Matthew Bye; Year 10: Ashlyn Feng, Cai Wenxiao, James Phelan, Matthew Gerry, Tara Harley, Ella Holliday and Ollie Bacon; Year 9: Oliver Phelan, Alex Evans Lombe, Maud Peel, Jonathan Kajoba, Jenny Clare, Martha Carey, Oliver Buchanan, Amy Knight, Sarah Barker, Natasha Doole and Louis Tomlinson; and bronze certificates went to: Year 11: Alex Dye, Harrison Perkins, Will Martin, Huang Hongyuan; Year 10: Henry Hobday, James Eaton, Georgia Harrold, Daniella Elman and Zara Lye; Year 9: Toby McNally, Guy Seagers, Katie Bye, James Brooks and Sophie Drew.
