It’s the second year we’ve chosen to support this local charity, having raised £2,167.35 last year through parent donations, a Year 7 movie night and Christmas jumper day.
Rather than setting a target of a specific amount this year we’d just like to challenge one another to beat that amount! With various events taking place in School over the next couple of weeks, we have plenty of opportunity to do so.
Home-Start Suffolk helps to support vulnerable families in the local community in all kinds of different ways, and with rising energy costs, inflation and interest rates, the charity predicts increased demands for support this winter. Having helped almost 500 families last year, Home-Start anticipates at least 1,500 needing help and support from the charity this year. We’re asking for donations of money rather than of food items as the charity finds that families prefer vouchers rather than food hampers as it allows them to choose items they need and can be used for food, drink, toiletries and other necessary items (the vouchers cannot be used for alcohol or tobacco products).
If you’d like to donate please use this link, we know the charity would be extremely grateful. Please click here.
Other events taking place in School to raise funds include our non-uniform day (which has already taken place) our Year 7 and 8 movie night and Christmas jumper day, details below:
Non-uniform day
We began our fundraising for the School’s chosen Christmas charity Home-Start Suffolk, with non-uniform day last week which raised £496.15 as we reported recently.
Movie night, 2 December
Our movie night features Home Alone and takes place in the Science Lecture Theatre in School on Friday 2 December, from 4.30 to 6.00pm for Year 7 and 8 students. Asked to pay a donation (minimum £1) via WisePay, students can relax and chill out, invited to watch the movie in pjs or onsies. There will be an opportunity to buy tuck, but food and drink cannot be consumed in the SLT.
Christmas jumper day
Students are asked to make a donation of £1 and wear a festive Christmas jumper (only a jumper, full School uniform must still be worn) on Wednesday 14 December. Always a popular event, the School comes alive with red and gold – and every other colour of the rainbow too!
