Score: Lost 1-2
The junior 3rd hockey team had a very exciting game against Norwich. The play was end to end and both teams enjoyed multiple opportunities to score. Norwich scored first and then managed to score a second goal just before half time. The Woodbridge defence, Flo Scott and Amelia Potter, worked hard at clearing the ball from our goal and Natasha Doole as goalkeeper was fearless. The Woodbridge attack were equally relentless and had four good attempts on goal but unfortunately our aim was not so good.
In the second half Woodbridge came out refreshed and more composed. They attacked the Norwich goal continuously and finally Minnie Wayman managed to score. Many of the girls had tried hard to score, but the Norwich goalkeeper was also a very good player and deflected the ball well. The second half was also full of good passing and desire to win. Unfortunately the whistle went just before Poppy Fletcher had time to strike the ball at the Norwich goal. Many of the spectators and the Norwich coach commented on how exciting the game had been and that a draw would have reflected the possession more accurately. Well done girls!
