Hockey: Woodbridge Girls Junior 2nd Team v Orwell Park

15 Oct 14

Score: 1-1 Draw

The junior 2 hockey team had a good performance against Orwell Park, making big steps forward after their last match.  The team played with much more determination and were more disciplined in their positions.  Aiming to use the full width and length of the pitch, midfielders Amy Graham and Emily Buchanan both had plenty of opportunities to show their skills.  At times we held onto the ball a touch too long before passing, closing down our space.  The forwards, Saffron Holliday and Verity Hobday, worked tirelessly to get ahead of the ball and provide support.

A much more disciplined team performance in defence meant that Orwell Park chances were nullified well.  They had few chances and managed to score 1.  Woodbridge scored first after some great passing and finishing from Saffron Holliday.  Woodbridge created a number of chances and in both halves but could not capitalize.  The team played very well and will be slightly disappointed not to win having created so many chances and near misses.  But it was a overall good team performance to build on.

Player of the match – Emily Buchanan.
