An inspired first half performance saw our senior first team take a 3-0 lead against a young and fast Ipswich High team. Early pressure paid off when Laura Graham opened the scoring, and with the girls playing some of the best hockey in recent times, plenty more scoring opportunities followed. Olivia Woodmansee was particularly dynamic up front, and was duly rewarded with two quality goals of her own. With counter attacks from the opposition competently stifled and the win now pretty secure, the second half was less dramatic and led to no further goals. This very satisfying start to the season owed much to all the players’ hard work, but special mention must go to Olivia, Verity Jackson, Ella Burdett and player of the match, Lily Felton, for outstanding contributions.
