Year 11’s Georgie and Charlotte have been re-selected for the Saracens Mavericks Thetford Futures Squad, which is part of the England Netball performance pathway, at U18 level. An amazing achievement for both girls, who have now played with the Futures squads for two seasons.
The Futures programme is an integral part of the pathway, feeding into an Academy as well as County programmes within the Saracens Mavericks landscape; with a number of current U21 and NSL players having started their journey with Saracens Mavericks.
Receiving specialist training specifically for their individual development, both Georgie and Charlotte receive one to one coaching and training and are part of a specialist educational programme. Competing in matchday competitions against each other and other franchises, the coaches are dedicated to provide players with every opportunity they can.
Both exceptional netball players and fantastic young ladies, Charlotte and Georgie were beaming as they spoke about their re-selection. Charlotte commented, “It’s great to continue to have the opportunity to play alongside so many other fantastic netball players.” Georgie added, “It’s an excellent opportunity to compete at a high level, playing alongside players I aspire to be like.” Both girls also train as part of the Ipswich Ladies Regional long squad and have played on court in senior matches, performing brilliantly on an entirely different level to local league netball.
With seven different hubs of Futures Squads within the Eastern region, Charlotte and Georgie are part of the Thetford hub, training on Monday nights at Thetford. The standard of play that both girls are playing at such a young age is exceptional and our Sports department, as well as everyone else in School, has thoroughly enjoyed watching their progress over the years and look forward to watching them continue to progress and one day play for either the Mavericks Super League or England Netball teams!
