Now back from their French trip to the city of Nice over half term, students from Years 10, 11 and 12 enjoyed taking French lessons, exploring the city, taking excursions and generally immersing themselves in French culture, language, sights and sounds! Year 10’s Annie and Honor, and Year 11’s Oliver have shared their thoughts on the experience below, thank you to them and all of our students for behaving so well and representing the School fantastically!
Thank you also to Mrs Chandler, Miss Hinton and Mr Edwards for accompanying the trip and for taking such great care of the students – everyone had a fantastic time.
Year 10’s Honor and Annie
The French trip was a fun week full of lessons, activities, site seeing and getting to know Nice. In the morning, we had lessons from 9.00am until midday in which we learnt vocab and grammar, usually ending in fun games. After lessons, we explored Nice, finding new places each day. Then we had arranged activities which included visiting Monaco to seeing the Pablo Picasso Museum in Antibes.
Throughout the trip, we stayed with a lovely host family who lived very close to the Promenade des Anglais which meant we swam most days. Overall, the reason we found the trip so entertaining was the range of activities, tasty food, and the independence we had – as well as the brilliant experiences!
Year 11’s Oliver
I found the lessons very interactive, and they definitely improved my French general knowledge. The lessons combined with the activities, means you are constantly picking up new things from signs around the streets to food on the menus.
Although there is more free time compared to Salamanca, we are more mature, so we were able to embrace the freedom we were given. It was also very nice having the tram station a hundred meters from my host’s apartment, I really enjoyed the variety of food prepared and shared by my host family.
