On a wet and windy morning, we travelled up to Wymondham College, where the sun was shining, but it was still bitterly cold – much different to the conditions last week at the school cross country!! With only 6 girls and 5 boys running in their respective junior sections, and only the top 4 counting, it was going to be a tight and tough competition, especially against 17 other schools.
The junior girls scored 33 points, which was fantastic & special mention must go to Sarah Barker who came 1st…considering she has been injured but desperately wanted to run so filled in at the last minute!! The remaining girls, all ran superbly – Amy Graham 5th, Victoria Burrows 13th, Sophie Graham 14th, Ianthe Hill 18th and Charlotte Dinwiddy 24th.
In the boys race, there was great determination from the off as they all knew it was a team event so wanted to support one other. A great run by all with George Rufford gaining 13th place, Alexander Evans-Lombe 33rd, Jack Leith 43rd, Charles Easton 47th and Thomas Beniost-Wilson 50th.
The top 2 schools from the competition go through to Regional finals. This is the first year we have entered the ESAA Schools’ Cross Country Cup and it is a great event, particularly for our super cross country runners!! Thank you also to Mr Goddard and Mr Garvie for all their hard work and input with running club!!
