Dressage competitions
Four members of the Woodbridge equestrian team have been competing with riders from schools all over the UK in a series of monthly pop up individual dressage competitions. Each month from November 2022 to March 2023 they have completed a different test which is videoed and sent in to be judged. The placings each month get added together for an overall position in the league. The final league results are:
Class 1B Ride and trot
Year 6’s India, 2nd place
Class 2 Prelim
Year 6’s Jasmine, 2nd place
Class 3 Novice
Year 11’s Sophia, 1st place
Year 13’s Lily, 3rd place
These excellent placings have qualified all four riders to compete in the National Championships at Addington in October. Congratulations to all the riders, for their continued motivation and hard work; it’s not easy competing virtually and to keep up a high standard of dressage.
Lime Kiln, Norfolk
On Saturday 1 April 2023, two teams were competing at Lime Kiln in Norfolk hoping to qualify in the Eventers Challenge for the NSEA Championships at Hickstead in May.
In the 80-85 class the team of Year 13’s Florence, Year 12’s Issy, Year 10’s Lois and Year 8’s Harry just missed out. However Issy rode a super round to come 3rd and qualify for the Championships as an individual.
More success in the 90-95 class with the team of Year 13’s Florence, Year 12’s Issy and Year 8’s Zac qualifying in 2nd with Florence also 3rd individual to qualify for the Championships in May.
Finally Year 12’s Ada has qualified for the National Championships in October in the 110cm show jumping at Suffolk Rural College, Otley on 4 April, while Year 6’s Jasmine also competed at Suffolk Rural College Otley on the same date, winning her 40cm, coming 2nd in the 50cm and winning a special rosette for style. These results saw her qualifying for the National Schools Grassroots Championships at Hickstead in August.
National Arena Challenge
In March Year 12’s Issy travelled to Daventry with her new horse Cherry; with her British riding club she and the team won the National Arena Challenge in their class. Issy also came 2nd place in the British Eventing U18s – well done Issy, and congratulations to the team.
3* International at Burnham Market
Over the Easter holidays Year 12’s Ada competed in the 3* International at Burnham Market. She did an amazing double clear to finish 20th out of a class of 120. Year 10’s Eve was placed in the U18 Open 1m class.
Congratulations and well done to all our riders.
