East Area Prep Championships and Regional A Final Track and Field Cup 2024
There have been early starts for Prep and Senior School students over the last couple of weeks, with the East Area Prep School Championships in Bedford and the Regional A Final of the Track and Field Cup in Chelmsford.
East Area Prep School Championships in Bedford
Year 6, 7 and 8 athletes competed with students from 50 other Eastern region schools at the East Area Prep School Championships which took place in Bedford. Those athletes who finished first and second were rewarded with a place in the East team to compete against the other regions at the National Prep School Championships in Birmingham on 3 July 2024.
It was a busy day with 22 athletes from Woodbridge School competing in a variety of events.

Regional A Final of the Track and Field Cup in Chelmsford
The second athletics event, was the Regional A Final of the Track and Field Cup in Chelmsford, for both the qualifying Junior teams.
A team of twelve/fourteen students have to cover all events between them, doing two events each (one track one field) scoring points for their distances and times.
Junior boys and Junior girls are a mix of Year 7 and Year 8 students.
It’s fair to say it’s a difficult competition, with athletes often having to compete in their second or third best events in order to maximise team points.
It was a tough competition for the Woodbridge School students, there competing with the best schools from Essex; but they rose to the occasion working hard and producing some great performances and a record number of personal bests!

The Junior boys were 10th with 332points and the Junior Girls were 9th with 329 points
Thank you to all of the staff who helped ensure students could attend and compete at these events, and also to the parents supporting. Also a very big well done to all the athletes who gave maximum effort and were a great credit to Woodbridge School at both events.
