29 students from the Junior Drama Enrichment Programme took part in an after School workshop based around our recent Year 10 and 11 production A Monster Calls earlier this week. Miss Mayes was blown away by the ambition and creativity displayed and would like to thank everyone that took part so enthusiastically. Two students who were there, Year 7’s Lola and Year 8’s Eve, have shared their thoughts on workshop.
Lola, Year 7
On Monday 20 February l attended the Junior Drama Enrichment Workshop led by Miss Mayes. As soon as l entered the theatre l felt comfortable, even though lots of the people attending l hadn’t met before. I think Miss Mayes quickly got rid of the ‘awkwardness’ by creating a task where we got up and introduced ourselves to as many people as we could, whether they were Year 7, 8 or 9. I feel so grateful to have been able to attend an enrichment workshop where l had the opportunity to share my love for drama with other passionate drama students.
Eva, Year 8
The drama workshop was so fun and I’m really happy I was invited to join in. Working with such a diverse group of students was great and it was good to learn things from older students. We normally work with people in our own year in drama lessons, or with our friends, but it was almost easier to work with people we aren’t as close with. Miss Mayes made such good use of the time and we managed to create a performance together very quickly – and still had time to watch other groups. An evening well spent!
