There was such energy, skill, and shared enjoyment on stage this week. Our dancers, young and old, novice and expert entertained with great panache and a joie de vivre which belied any inexperience or nerves. From ballet to hip hop, from contemporary to commercial to lyrical, the genres reflected both the music and the characters of the dancers: innocence, whimsy, grace, and occasionally something a little more knowing, whether anguished or self-assured. Slick, passionate, and richly entertaining, the evening passed in a flash and before we knew it the dancers were taking a final bow to rapturous applause.
Many, many congratulations to one and all on stage, and especially to those who had also choreographed their own performances; and our thanks and congratulations in equal measure to the team backstage and to the impresario and guiding light for this year’s dance show, Mrs Simpson.
