Last weekend 37 of our Year 10 students took part in the Bronze DofE expedition training weekend in the local area.
They began by undertaking practical navigation practice, emergency procedures, first aid and route planning, fortunate to be doing so in much better and brighter weather than we’ve had of late!
Driven to their campsites, the students, who had been split into two groups, received more training on camp craft including pitching tents and how to use stoves.
After a pleasant night camping out and after cooking a hearty breakfast for one another, students then walked back to School, each group taking a different route and carrying all of their expedition equipment. Learning from small mistakes, be that navigational or with kit, the students are now ready for their two-day qualifying expedition in June.
