So close yet so far for the U15s in a brave encounter with King’s Ely. Travelling with a 16-man squad, a game of hard knocks was always going to expose the lack of cover, and so it proved in the end. The start was exciting and positive: Harry Hobday and James Eaton combining to devastating effect; Henry Bange distributing well from fly half and Oliver Bacon feeding intelligently from scrum half; crash balls and crunching tackles. Half time: 10-10 and James with two tries under his belt. But the second half started frustratingly: James Phelan, after a string of brilliant tackles, was forced off the pitch, and the ensuing reorganization and loss of structure played to the opposition’s hand when, eventually, a winning try was conceded. Bad luck boys.
